Charlie Sheen & The Mystery of the Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chrono

by on Nov.09, 2010, under Review

What kind of watch blog we would be if we didn’t mention this?

Last week much to-do was made of Charlie Sheen’s coke-fueled antics inside a room at the Plaza Hotel with a lovely young lady by the name of Capri.  He trashed the joint, causing several thousand dollars worth of damage, and he did all because he thought Capri ganked his timepiece.

Did he overreact? Hardly. His watch was a Patek Philippe Reference 5970.  For those that don’t have Patek’s reference numbers memorized, this watch is a modern legend.  The 5970 is a perpetual calendar chronograph….from Patek Philippe.  It retails for rougly $138,500 (more or less depending on metal) and is a direct descendent of some of the most important watches ever.  We’re talking the original Patek perpetual chronos like the 1518 (which is explained in video here) and the later 2499.

Sheen’s Patek 5970 was not recovered.  Capri says she didn’t take it, and if there is person you can trust, it’s a 22 year old porn-star / hooker.

So how long till this watch surfaces, any bets?
