Mica Releases Wood Watch Collection

by on Oct.14, 2010, under Review, What's New, Wood Watches

Mica has perfected the art of wood watch design for wrist watches. Not to say that they are the only ones who have dabled in this field but they have come up with some unique timepeices. With 3 hand japanese quartz movement these watches are reliable and surprisingly enduring for being made of wood. Each of 4 models released so far are hand carved from maple wood harvested from managed forests. Not only are these watches eco friendly but they are good on the eyes as well.

Each model comes in 4 different colorways for a total of 16 different watches to choose from. With smooth crisp colors up against a grain finish these watches are a must have for any surfer, skater or snowboarder looking for something completely different than what’s currently on the market today.

Each case has been carved from a solid piece of maple wood. You can feel the texture and see the detailed wood grain. You don’t have to worry about splinters because the case and each link is sanded and buffed for a smooth finish.

Link numbers and size vary by model but can be adjusted with a simple watch repair kit or even eyeglass screwdrivers. You can add or remove links at will and even adjust the size on the stainless steal double locking clasp buckle for a precise fit. All hardware is stainless steal and all models are water resistant. Because of the natural qualities of the wood, MICA watches are not waterproof by natural design. Just as you wouldn’t want to put your skate deck in the water your MICA watch should be cared for in the same way.
I highly recommend a MICA watch, new on the market and the best watch I’ve seen yet!
